Glossary (N–Z)

Outlier Dependency#

A measure of how much total profitability depends on a small number of unusually successful bets. High Outlier Dependency indicates that a large proportion of profits comes from relatively few outcomes. Lower values suggest profitability is distributed more evenly across the betting history.

Persistence#

The degree to which an observed market edge remains consistent over time.

Within BetMirror, Persistence refers specifically to the stability of the edge relative to its own historical baseline and should not be confused with Drift Velocity, which measures how that edge evolves.

Pressure Score#

A numerical indicator used within the Behavioral Consistency Index to quantify how much behavioural patterns change under adverse conditions.

Lower scores indicate steadier execution.

Higher scores indicate increasing behavioural reactivity under pressure.

The Pressure Score measures behavioural deviation, not betting performance.

Push#

A settled outcome in which neither the bettor nor the bookmaker wins. The original stake is refunded and excluded from profit and loss calculations.

Recovery Behaviour#

The pattern of stake sizing and execution immediately following losing sequences. BetMirror evaluates whether a strategy maintains consistent behaviour after losses or becomes increasingly reactive.

Regime#

A historically distinct behavioural phase identified from the chronological betting record. Each regime describes how the strategy behaved during a specific period and does not imply future continuation.

Return on Investment (ROI)#

Net profit expressed as a percentage of total stakes wagered. ROI measures realised historical profitability. It does not describe behavioural quality or structural robustness.

SD (Standard Deviation)#

A statistical measure describing the dispersion of values around their average. Within BetMirror PDFs, the symbol σ is displayed as SD for maximum compatibility across PDF viewers.

Session Integrity#

An assessment of whether execution quality remains consistent throughout a betting session. The module compares early-session and late-session behaviour to identify potential decision-quality deterioration during the day.

Stake Discipline#

The consistency of stake sizing across the betting history.

Strategies with highly stable stake sizing generally demonstrate stronger behavioural discipline than strategies with frequent unexplained stake variation.

Stability Score#

A composite assessment describing how structurally resilient a strategy appears. It incorporates multiple behavioural components including:

  • sample depth;
  • drawdown;
  • stake discipline;
  • exposure concentration;
  • and Closing Line Value.

The Stability Score measures structural robustness rather than expected profitability.

Structural Contradiction#

A situation where different analytical modules describe different behavioural characteristics simultaneously.

Contradictions do not indicate an error.

They reveal that separate structural dimensions are evolving differently.

Structural Signal#

A statistically supported behavioural observation identified by the evaluation engine. Signals highlight meaningful characteristics such as:

  • market execution;
  • timing behaviour;
  • behavioural consistency;
  • survivability;
  • or edge quality.

Signals describe evidence rather than predictions.

Survivability#

The extent to which the observed bankroll structure appears capable of absorbing historical levels of variance and drawdown.

Survivability evaluates structural resilience under continuation of current behaviour.

It does not estimate the probability of future ruin.

Temporal Evolution#

A long-term comparison between earlier and later portions of the betting history. Temporal Evolution identifies broad structural changes rather than short-term fluctuations.

Tension#

A mild structural disagreement between behavioural modules. Unlike a Contradiction, a Tension usually reflects early divergence rather than direct conflict. Tensions are intended to encourage observation rather than immediate concern.

Variance#

The natural statistical fluctuation that exists in betting outcomes.

Variance affects realised profitability over short and medium time horizons even when behavioural quality remains unchanged.

BetMirror attempts to distinguish variance-driven results from genuine structural change.

Yield#

Profit expressed as a percentage of turnover.

Within BetMirror, Yield is used as a historical performance measure and should always be interpreted alongside behavioural metrics rather than in isolation.

Zero-Reactivity#

An informal description of exceptionally stable behavioural execution.

Strategies displaying minimal changes in stake sizing, recovery behaviour, and variance response may exhibit near zero-reactive characteristics.

This is a behavioural observation rather than an official rating.
